Getting there

The closest tram stops are Porte de l'Hôpital (lines A, D and F) and Langstross Grand'Rue (line A), both about 6 minutes from the entrance on smooth paving along the Ill. Coming from the cathedral, cross the pont du Corbeau and turn right; the entrance is on the riverside façade.

At the entrance

Use the main doors on rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Poissons. The threshold is step-free. The ticket desk is on the left of the lobby. Show your disability card and staff issue free tickets for you and one companion. The cloakroom and toilets are on the lower ground floor, reachable by the visitor lift.

Inside

The permanent route is organised chronologically across three levels, served by a single passenger lift. The Plan-Relief, a 1727 scale model of Strasbourg's fortifications, is the centrepiece of the upper level. Temporary exhibitions occupy a separate wing on the entrance floor and are reached without using stairs.

Practical details

Photography without flash is allowed across the permanent collection. The shop is at the back of the entrance lobby and is step-free. Audio guides in French, English and German are available; ask at the desk. If you need a wheelchair on loan, ask at reception when you arrive. Cloakroom lockers are at the lower-ground floor, with the visitor lift between them and the entrance.
