Avis will hire a vehicle with hand controls. This vehicle will be one off their normal fleet and so advance booking is require as the vehicle will have to be fitted with the controls.

The larger cities of the world will be able to accommodate vehicles with hand controls and also 'people mover' type vehicles to accommodate larger power chairs/scooter/gophers.

Most coach companies will accept wheelchair dependent passengers. In most cases passengers will be required to acces the coach (the driver will assist}. Coach companies also have a policy where a seat rotation is employed so a capability to move down the aisle of the coach is required.
The wheelchair must be foldable to be placed in the luggage compartment of the coach.
